About
Meet Dr. Laurito
I am a licensed psychologist in New York State with certifications in school psychology at both the state and national levels. My journey in psychology began with a bachelor's degree from Saint Francis University, followed by a master's in curriculum and instruction from Florida State University, where I specialized in visual disabilities.
For seven years, I worked as an orientation and mobility specialist, supporting children, adolescents, and adults who were deafblind. During that time, I pursued my doctorate in school psychology at St. John's University, deepening my expertise in assessment, intervention, and educational support.
Life can be challenging, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Whether you’re facing stress, anxiety, relationship struggles, or other life challenges, I’m here to help. I work collaboratively with my clients to set meaningful goals and develop personalized strategies to overcome obstacles. Together, we’ll explore your core values and integrate them into the therapeutic process, ensuring that your journey is both effective and aligned with who you are.
With a strong foundation in psychology and education, I bring a compassionate, evidence-based approach to therapy. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, providing support for ADHD, anxiety, depression, chronic medical conditions, Autism, OCD, grief, behavioral concerns, and stress. I am trained in various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Parent Management Training, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based CBT, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
As a bilingual therapist proficient in American Sign Language (ASL), I am committed to providing inclusive and accessible mental health care for the Deaf, hard of hearing, and Deafblind communities. While I am not Deaf myself, I am a dedicated ally who prioritizes clear and effective communication. Because I am not a native ASL user, I work collaboratively with my clients to ensure our communication is comfortable and effective throughout our sessions.
I also integrate creative approaches into therapy, incorporating visuals, music, and movement when beneficial. My approach is flexible, client-centered, and designed to empower individuals to live a life that aligns with their values.
